La Roche-Posay Anthelios XL Nutritive Oil [Body] 50+
and La Roche-Posay Anthelios XL Sensitive Lipstick 50+

Hey Beauty Lovers! At the La Roche-Posay event it was all about sun protection, the event was organised with one and only mission: to get us ready for the summer! La Roche-Posay Anthelios [SPF30] and Anthelios [SPF50+] is their sun protection range. As the sun starts to come out and skin gets exposed to the dangerous UVB and UVA rays, skincare with a high protection becomes vital! UVB is the light that causes damage on the surface of the skin without penetrating the epidermis, which results in sunburn. Although a sunburn may appear to be only a temporary skin issue it can actually cause permanent damage. A sunburn is essentially dehydrating the skin which leads to premature aging such as wrinkles.

UVA however, penetrates deep into the skin dermis and causes long-term or permanent skin damage that can take years to develop before it becomes evident. UVA just like UVB but worse causes premature skin aging: age-spots, skin pigmentation, deep wrinkles. But the main danger is a potentially life threatening skin damage, that is why you should insure at all times when exposed to the sun that both UVB and UVA protection factors are in your sun protection products!

Here are a few interesting facts: 80% of premature skin ageing is due to exposure to UVA or UVB rays. What was surprising to find out is that 70% of consumers use the same sun screen product on their body & face. Obviously the skin on the face is a lot more fragile and therefore needs a much higher sun protection factor, ideally SPF30 for the body and SPF50 for the face.

The two new products are the Cream Compact and Ultra Light Fluid, both already available. The Cream Compact is SPF50+ foundation that is basically make-up and skincare in one, comes in two shades. It has a soft matte finish, creates a smooth texture for a perfect complexion, and doesn't feel heavy. Ultra Light Fluid is a lightweight SPF50+ facial sun protection with no white residue that is great for combination skin, it also comes in a tinted version. So make sure you are protecting your skin this summer!

La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo [+] Review!

Hey Beauty Lovers! Now that I had a good trial of the new La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo [+] it's time for a review! I have featured it when it was launched, so if you haven't read that blogpost yet click here! The difference between the original Effaclar Duo and the new formula Effaclar Duo [+] is that now it also helps to fade acne and blemish scars. It's a great all-rounder skincare product for blemish prone skin as it takes care of the whole cycle, clearing out the pores, reducing blemishes and helping them to heal faster, fading red and brown pigmentation left after a blemish, and preventing further blemishes from forming, resulting in unclogged pores and clear looking skin.

Before I started using Effaclar Duo [+] I had a big break out on my chin, which I haven't had in a very long time - so I could really see the difference! The blemishes cleared up within a couple of days and the scaring that usually takes a lot longer to fade also went visibly quickly! It can be used morning and/or evening on the whole face and it makes a great make-up primer. I just use it in the morning before applying foundation and it works beautifully!

Updated Review: La Roche-Posay Redermic [R]!

Hey Beauty Lovers! Three weeks ago I have written a review on La Roche-Posay Redermic [R], which is a Retinol treatment. To read the full review where I also explain how Retinol works click here! So at this stage I have been using Retinol for just over two months. Just before Christmas I started using Redermic [R], soon after my skin started to have a light breakout, here and there a small spot would appear. Then about two weeks ago it got even worse, my faced was covered in spots in most random places. But I didn't want to stop using Retinol as it is a common side-effect especially on oily skin which tends to have blocked pores. Retinol kind of pulls all the impurities to the surface, so you have to be patient to get through this "breakout" stage and just hang in there it will get better!

And about a week ago the breakouts have finally stopped! Now even when I have a facial which has mud base in it that always used to break me out as it also pulls impurities out, my skin stays clear next day. This must be the sign that Retinol has got rid of the deep sitting blocked pores. After 8-9 weeks of using Redermic [R] my skin is super smooth and radiant looking. All of my skincare serums and moisturisers and facials seem to work much better now that my skin is nice and clear. Also my pigment mark which is sun damage that I mentioned in the previous review has faded slightly. I'm now using it every other day alternating it with my Avene Cleanance K Cream-gel, which keeps my acne under control.

I would highly recommend to have a Retinol treatment as it works on a deeper level and makes all the other skincare a lot more effective! Although Redermic [R] is super powerful it is also very gentle, designed to be suitable for all skin types, even for those that are sensitive!

La Roche-Posay New Effaclar Duo [+] Launch!

Available at Boots nationwide and boots.com and laroche-posay.co.uk

Hey Beauty Lovers! This year La Roche-Posay is launching Effaclar Duo [+], which is the new reformulated original Effaclar Duo. It does exactly what the original formula did, which is targeting blemish prone skin by clearing out clogged pores and regulating oiliness but now it also takes care of skin marks caused by blemishes. Effaclar Duo [+] corrects and prevents pigmentation scaring left after acne/blemishes. I'm super excited about this product as I really enjoyed the original formula, and now with the additional bonus of the innovative Procerad which is the powerful active ingredient it looks like a skincare miracle for blemish prone skin.

It's a lovely light-weight instantly absorbed moisturiser for those of us with combo/oily skin that is also blemish/acne prone and a great make-up base, it can be used every morning and/or evening. Effaclar Duo [+] promises to show visible improvement of red marks in just 24 hours. Some severe pigmentation marks and acne scaring can take up to three years to fade naturally, but Effaclar Duo [+] improves the skin appearance and evens out the skin tone taking care of the pigmentation marks in eight weeks. I will do a full review after I use this product for a few weeks to let you know how it goes.

New: La Roche-Posay Redermic [R] - Retinol Treatment!

Hey Beauty Lovers! I started using La Roche-Posay Redermic [R] about a week before Christmas. At that stage my skin seemed clear and I had no breakouts [my skin type: oily/combo + acne prone]. About a week in I started noticing visible changes to my skin. I'm actually very excited about this skincare product! To begin with, Retinol is a very powerful ingredient when it comes to anti-aging skincare. By lifting off the top layers of dead skin Retinol works deeply into the skin tissue rejuvenating skin cells. This makes fine lines and deep wrinkles appear diminished as well as making premature dark spots fade, leaving skin texture smooth and even-toned. Retinol is also the ingredient that is used in dermatological treatment for acne, as it lifts all the impurities. It is important to wear a high SPF especially when you are having a Retinol treatment!

Retinol is a very intense ingredient and can be too harsh on sensitive skin. However the great thing is that La Roche-Posay Redermic [R] has 0.1% pure Retinol with an exclusive Retinol booster complex which helps to enhance the efficacy of the formula, while maintaining suitable tolerance on the skin. So it's super gentle and suitable for all skin types. Retinol helps the skin to heal fast, so even if you get a spot it will take care of it really quickly, and next day or the day after it will simply make the skin peel in the place where the spot was rather than leaving it to develop into an ordeal, yet it won't leave your skin feeling dehydrated.

So for about two weeks all the pore impurities were lifted to the surface of the skin. Retinol acts like a hoover lifting everything out of the pores even if you couldn't see anything beforehand with the naked eye. Those were deeper pores that Retinol was working on, so potentially these could have been formed into more substantial spots later. I also noticed suddenly I got quite a few black heads, which I normally don't get. But I didn't get any cystic acne or nothing that resembled a general break out. My skin was getting properly cleansed and resurfaced, skin starts to peel [only in the beginning] but it's totally worth it in the end! And only now it seems Retinol has vacuumed all the junk and my skin texture is beautifully smooth and clear.

Redermic [R] can be used in the morning and evening, it's meant to be a great make-up primer, but since I'm using another primer at the moment I apply it in the evening. It's super light-weight and gets absorbed immediately. The texture is very light and creamy similarly to a serum. Redermic has a pale yellow colour which is typical of Retinol. I will be doing an updated review in a few weeks to let you know how it's taking care of a pigmentation spot I have, I haven't noticed any changes yet.

La Roche-Posay Effaclar K, Renovating Care for Oily Skin!

Following the current London cult, which Ruth Crilly [amodelrecommends] started when she featured La Roche-Posay Effaclar K on her youtube channel I think back in December or maybe even end of November, I have also started using it... Now this skincare product is featured by most beauty lovers, so many great reviews, everyone is absolutely loving it! And I am happy I gave it a go, what it does is it helps to take care of blemishes as well as helping to fade away the scars left behind... Which is fantastic for irregular skin texture, oily skin type or acne prone skin, as it helps to unblock pores...

It's great because you can use it day and night all over the face, I only use in the morning as a moisturiser and make-up base, which is enough for me... It's fantastic as not many exfoliating creams also moisturise your skin and I certainly need it during winter! I've used Effaclar K for over a week now and can see a big improvement, my skin is visibly clearer and more radiant...The magic ingredient is retinol [a fantastic anti-ageing ingredient]! It's a great exfoliant, LHA combined with retinol helps to protect skin against future relapse, which is awesome!

And if you wonder what retinol is: "Derivatives of vitamin A, such as tretinoin and retinol, work to increase cell turnover and exfoliation by stimulating cell production underneath the skin. This process slows down with age, allowing layers of dead, thick, sun damaged skin cells to remain on the surface. As a result - skin looks dull and thick, pores look large and sun-related damage such as age spots and blotchiness appear."

LHA is: "Beta-lipohydroxy [LHA] works in a manner similar to salicylic acid in the treatment of acne. It possesses potent comedolytic (ability to unblock pores). And in a study conducted by La Roche Posay, it was shown to decrease the bacterial concentration inside the follicles (area below the pore)."

Thank you Ruth!
