Percy & Reed Wonder Balm Review!

Hey Beauty Lovers! I have featured Wonder Balm few weeks ago when I went to the ELLE UK cover launch event, if you haven't read that blogpost yet click here! I have now used it a couple of time, so here is what I think. Percy & Reed Wonder Balm in effect is a primer for hair, it's meant to protect from heat and also make other styling products work and last much better. It's hard to say whether other hair products do work better or last longer but I basically use it as a heat protector on damp hair before blow drying. It also can be used on dry hair if you want to curl hair on day two you can apply it through out the length for heat protection. This is a sample that I got with the ELLE mag but the actual products comes with a pump. And as per usual the Percy & Reed scent is gorgeous!

Exclussive ELLE UK Launch: Percy & Reed Wonder Balm!

Hey Beauty Lovers! Yesterday I went to the Percy & Reed Wonder Balm launch event at ELLE UK. It's the first time ELLE UK has done a cover launch for a beauty product, so I'm super excited to share some insider info with you! Amongst champagne and mini cupcakes we talked beauty with Sophie Beresiner, who is the Beauty Director at ELLE UK. We had a sneak preview of the ELLE Magazine which went on the shelves today, so grab your issue before they sell out.

There was also Percy & Reed team who were showing how to style four on-trend hair looks for the spring using Wonder Balm: The Top Knotty, Buns and Roses, Pony Grip, and my favourite Blossom Braid! Wonder Balm is a hair primer, just like a facial make-up primer makes your make-up last longer and look prettier. It creates a heat protecting smoothing base which can be worn on its own or topped up with any of your regular hair styling products. Wonder Balm is multifunctional and can be used on towel dried hair before styling or on dry hair to keep frizz or flyaways under control, apply a small amount from roots to ends.

So with ELLE UK April 2014 issue that is available today you get a sample of Wonder Balm, which is the exact amount of product as in the original, so you get 75ml worth £18 for free!! The only difference between the ELLE sample and the original product is that Wonder Balm comes with a pump. Wonder Balm will be available to purchase on March 15th, so you get a great opportunity to try this product for free now!

Gift Idea: Percy & Reed Haircare Travel Set!

Hey Beauty Lovers! I have really enjoyed using Percy & Reed haircare products through out the year and would recommend their pretty awesome gift sets. This particular one Simply Sumptuous Shine is my travel kit from last year, which is super convenient to take with you as it comes in this plastic make-up bag. I don't think this exact one is available this year but they do loads of similar gift sets, which are always brilliant. A fab way to introduce Percy & Reed to a friend who hasn't tried their lovely haircare products yet, or of course treat yourself to a cute little travel set. Percy & Reed packaging is always super stylish!

Percy & Reed Brilliantly Beautiful Superglossing Mask

Here is another Percy & Reed hair product that I really like! Having highlighted hair I often have to combat dehydration. This Superglossing hair mask is great for nourishing tiered looking hair. It makes it look really shiny and healthy. As always Percy & Reed hair products are filled with great ingredients, blackcurrant seed oil and sweet almond oil help to smooth and nourish the hair, while pro vitamin B5 gives the hair strength! Apply the mask from roots to ends and leave in for 2-3 mins. Result: pretty hair!

Summer Haircare: Beach Waves!

These are the three main haircare products that I use during summer to style my hair with. The hair style that I go for most of the time during the hot season is beach waves because it's so effortless and easy to do. After I wash my hair while it's still damp I apply Percy & Reed No Oil Oil for fine hair right into the roots and middle length, it gives my hair a gentle lift. Then I spray the Bumble and bumble Surf Spray, it's a salt spray that gives you that sexy seawater+sun matte-ish texture separating hair into strands.

And finally after my hair is dry I spray through the Paul & Joe Body & Hair Mist to keep my hair smelling gorgeous and to give it a little bit of shine. The subtle scent of orange flowers is truly delicious, a citrusy uplifting summer scent! When I was on the fright I read this article about hair scents becoming a new trend. There is something about hair that makes a scent last longer than skin does! Remember that scene in SATC Movie 2 when Carrie sprays a fragrance into her hair at the flamboyant wedding of Stanford Blatch and Anthony Marentino?!

My Haircare Routine + Styling Tips & Tricks!

Hey beauties, this is the look I wore today for the A La Carte 40th Anniversary event in Shoreditch, which I will blog about tmr as the exhibit will run from 22-26th of May - and if you are a beauty junkie like myself then I think you should really check it out! As it was my lucky hair-day today and a hair blogpost was requested a few times on Instagram I decided it's perfect time to share what I do to my hair, what products I use and how I style it! First of all I shall point out that my hair is very naughty and mischievous, it certainly does not behave perfectly every day... My hair is fine and has an oily roots and dry ends tendency, it's straight but not stick straight, it has a light wave to it. Naturally it's a [very] dark ash blonde, and I get highlights done about twice or three times a year. I have found an amazing colourist at my local Trevor Sorbie salon, next time I see him I will ask if that's ok to share his info and will do a separate blogpost. Now get yourself a nice big cup of tea or coffee as this will be one long blogpost!

Before I went to Trevor Sorbie, I tried pretty much all the salons in Hampstead. I am very particular with how a salon should be and how I feel about it, and I find that Trevor Sorbie suits me perfectly, the people working there, the hairstylists and stuff are really cool, so I am finally happy to have found a salon that is on the same wavelength. Having said that I am not someone who will be making monthly appointments, no no no. I literally get to a hairsalon few times a year. I like my hair to have a life on its own in-between the salon visits. I like the roots to grow out and get grungy [within reason], I don't like my hair looking the same all the time.

That of course means I trim my own fringe, in fact I had no idea how hard it is to find someone professional who knows how to do it properly, so off I went to Boots and got a pair of professional scissors... Also I do trim the ends, which is a good thing to do if you want to keep your hair looking healthy, even if you just take off half an inch. In fact I was once told it's good to do that once a month at least. I'm not too anal about it, like I said I just let it grow and get wild.

Something I have realised over the years is that my hair definitely looks much better if I wash it in the evening, style it and then sleep on it, which may sounds odd, but it works! If I am too tiered to wash my hair before going to bed, and do it next morning - I know I will have bun-worthy hair for the next few days, it just ends up looking frizzy, then flat, and fringe is all over the place. I am also very against washing my hair daily, I actually think it damages the hair, and makes it only get oilier at the roots the more you fondle with it. I wash my hair about three times a week, and style it once and forget about it until it needs a wash, I don't do anything to it in-between washes.

Another trick I have learned works on my hair brilliantly is to not brushing it between washes. So it only gets brushed after I wash it when it's still damp, I love the Tangle Teezer, it's a-mazing for long hair I have no idea how I lived without it before!! And then when I blow dry my hair I brush it out with the big round Trevor Sorbie brush. And that is it, literally! The idea of brushing dry hair makes me cringe, it brakes the hair, makes it frizzy, and on top of that makes the scalp very greasy, so no, my hair started looking a lot healthier and thicker when I stopped brushing [about ten years ago, yes!].

Now onto hairproducts, I make sure to have a few shampoos and conditioners at hand, and rotate them all the time. My hair reacts better if I use say a volumising shampoo and conditioner one day, then next time switch to a colour correcting, and then a softening. I have stopped using the cheap shampoos looong time ago, recently I decided to try the good old Pantene Pro-V and absolutely hated it, so now I strictly wash my make-up brushes with it and bath my cat, they haven't complained.....

Here are the haircare products I am really enjoying currently [for the past few months]:
John Frieda Luxurious Volume Shampoo & Conditioner - great all time products. John Frieda Sheer Blonde Colour Renew Tone-Correcting Shampoo - I used this one every couple of weeks, it's one of those purple shampoos and a must-have if you have blonde highlights! Together with it I use John Frieda Sheer Blonde Highlight Activating Moisturising Conditioner - them together are great if I need a lift, makes blonde hair look shiny and fresh again, almost as if you had new highlights done!

Redken All Soft Shampoo & Conditioner - been trying these out, and really loving them, full review coming soon! I actually washed my hair with these two product last night, really makes my hair super soft, yet stays in shape. And finally Bumble and bumble Thickening Shampoo & Conditioner - this range is great for when my hair is feeling and looking really limp and flat. In terms of hair masks, at the moment I'm loving the Redken All Soft Heavy Cream and Percy & Reed Superglossing Mask - I do them few times a month.

Now then, styling products! I also rotate and mix them up depending on how my hair is feeling. But lately I've been enjoying John Frieda Luxurious Volume Fine To Full Blow-Out Spray, Lee Stafford Volumising Mousse and Sea Salt Spray, Redken All Soft Supple Touch, Percy & Reed Bodifying Cream and Volumising No Oil Oil. And finally not really a styling product but something I would really recommend to anyone with long hair is the Phyto Secret de Nuit, lovely hydrating regenerating night treatment for dry ends.

And finally just in case you wonder what I actually used last night to style my hair with:
After washing my hair and brushing it through with the Tangle Teezer I always twist it up in one of those towel-turbans, forgot to mention, doing this gets the moisture out of your hair, so by the time [say in 20-30 mins] I am ready to blow-dry, my hair won't need too much heat. Then I applied about five pumps of the Redken All Soft Supple Touch softening cream-spray for dry/brittle hair into my palm and then applied it onto mid-lenghts and ends. Then Lee Stafford Volumizing Mousse mainly into the roots and mid-lenghts. Followed by Lee Stafford Sea Salt Spray, this is great for that beach babe look and a bit of texture. And finally never forget a heat spray, currently I am using Toni&Guy Prep Heat Protection Mist. And then I start blow-drying my hair until it's 90% dry, then I used the Trevor Sorbie medium big round brush just doing the top two sections at the back and on the sides. Hope this helps!

Percy & Reed No-Oil Oil for Fine Hair!

Hey beauties, this is another hair product by Percy & Reed I have jolly enjoyed in the past few months, but somehow never got to write the review so here it is. As you only need a couple of drops at a time you can see this No-Oil Oil has been well loved! This is another great product of theirs for a beautiful looking voluminous hair. This hair oil is particularly great for fine hair as it doesn't weight it down - it lifts flat fine hair, giving it natural looking oomph and body. Violet extract makes the hair smooth and shiny, while vitamin B5 nourishes the hair making it stronger and also protects from heat. For my very long hair I use one pump massaging it in towel dried hair from root to tip and then blow dry as usual.

Percy & Reed Superstar Supersized Bodifying Cream!

I really like using this Percy & Reed Bodifying Cream on the days I give my hair a break from the old hair dryer. I prefer washing my hair in the evening, as it always looks best next morning. So after I wash my hair I keep it in one of those turbans that you wrap you hair in - they are fantastic for speeding up the natural hair drying process, it kind of sucks up most part of the moisture like a sponge, so after I take it off I just massage one pump of this Bodifying Cream from roots to ends before I let the hair air dry completely. On days when I want extra bit volume I add another pump into the roots when my hair is still damp. Next morning my hair always looks pretty and smooth but not flat, it holds a good shape.

Percy & Reed Totally TLC Hydrating Mask!

I have really been enjoyed Percy & Reed hair products, so quite a few features to come! This is a great hydrating mask that I like to apply when my hair needs a boost of moisture... It comes with a cute bonnet illustrated by Jessica May Underwood... Firstly you need to massage the mask into your hair from roots to the ends, then wrap the hair up, put the bonnet on and leave it on for a minimum of ten minutes... The bonnet helps to create a warmer environment - higher temperature opens the cuticle allowing the nutrients to penetrate the hair more intensively... All of the Percy & Reed hair products have a great packaging, which I absolutely adore displaying in my bathroom, super creative illustration! And of course this hydrating mask has a sexy scent, which beautifully penetrates your hair leaving it smelling gorgeous for days... A clear case of love!

Gift Guide 2012: Soft Waves Step by Step...

The end result: soft waves...

Step One: curl all sections of you hair and bobby pin them into place, spray them with a bit of hairspray...

Step Two: minutes later after the hair cools down take the bobby pins out...

Step Three: finally go through your hair with fingers to soften the waves and finish off with hairspray!

Things you will need: hairspray, bobby pins, heat defence spray [which I forgot to include]...

The hairspray of my choice is Percy & Reed Reassuring Firm Session Hold Hairspray!
Great for a natural hold, leaves the hair still feeling soft and beautiful to touch...

And of course you'll need a curling wand!
This is the BaByliss Boutique Soft Waves Professional 210C styler...

...comes with 5 digital temperature settings...

...including heat mat and glove...

Personally I think soft waves look is the most flattering hair style a girl could go for... And since Christmas is slowly coming closer and closer, I can literally feel the anticipation bubbling up, it's about time to start thinking about your hair, and how to make it look beautiful... I thought to share a few tips how to create a  relaxed beautiful wave, that doesn't look like you were trying to hard... It really is simple! All you need is a curling wand with a wide barrel, bobby pins, heat defence spray and hairspray!

The curling wand of my choice is the BaByliss Boutique Soft Waves Professional 210C styler... I like it because the barrel is 34mm so it's not thin, the wider barrels are great for that relaxed soft wave... Also it's a ceramic barrel, which is good for making your waves more shiny... It doesn't have a clamp, which is perfect for smooth waves as it won't create any kinks! This curling wand comes with a heat resistant glove so that you obviously don't burn your fingertips, a heat mat that you can rest the hot barrel on to prevent damaging any surface... And it has 5 digital temperature settings - 165C, 180C, 195C and 210C, I like to curl my hair with 180C, holding it for something like 10-15 seconds...

Before I start curling my hair I always spray a heat defence spray, which I forgot to include when taking the picture, but in case you want to know I used the Lee Stafford Arganoil from Morocco Miracle Heat Defence Spray, which is great for giving you that extra bit of shine... Then I do the curling, always curling away from my face, I gently let the hair slide off the barrel onto my palm holding it for a second before I pin it with the bobby pin, and that will help you to make the waves last longer! Then after I finish with the last section of hair I let it cool down for couple of minutes before going over with hairspray, I like Percy & Reed Reassuring Firm Session Hold Hairspray because it gives that very natural hold, it doesn't make the hair springy yet it keeps the shape...

Once I am ready to get the bobby pins out I go through the hair with my fingers to get it into the shape I want and to soften the waves... Then I finish off again with a few sprays of the hairspray... Keep in mind that in the pictures the hair still has quite a defined wave, it does relax a little more after a while, and looks even more natural... I love wearing this hair, there is something about it that makes me feel happy... And you know the rule, when you feel happy you look great!

Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray...

October has been so far a lot about hair products, and I will be featuring quite a few more... The reason being is that the transition from summer to fall tends to make my hair a bit difficult... I have long, highlighted hair that goes frizzy, flat looking and totally uninspiring at times... Having a good hair day is important for women especially, hair is our asset and therefore it has to be in good if not great condition... It all starts with a good shampoo and conditioner and hair masks, I just did a blog post on my new found beloved Lush shampoo & conditioner, just click here to read more... Then it goes into different hair products that would suit your hair according to what it needs that particular day, also have discovered a bunch of Percy & Reed Volumising products that work fantastically, click here to check them out...

In between washes I sometimes need a little bit of texture, or even straight after I was my hair when it lacks that je ne sais quoi I like to use a sea salt spray sometimes... Basically what it is is a styling spray that helps to create a textured, slightly matte hair look, just think of the day you spent on the beach, the sea water is really nutritious for your hair but also it leaves it looking sexy and a little wild... But then you always have to wash it because you also get a bunch of sand in it... Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray does exactly that, without the sand bit... I like to spray it on completely dried hair, so either after blow drying it or on second day hair, then I just scrunch the hair up a little to create that wild-ish texture et voilĂ (!) - I look like I've just come from the beach, in the middle of autumn living in London... Miracles do happen, eh?

Percy & Reed Volumising Hair Products...

I have discovered a hair care brand that I absolutely adore! It's been difficult to hold myself back from premature excitement as I loved the products immediately but wanted to try them out properly before writing this review... And so I've been using them for weeks now and it's about time to share love... It's a rare combination of fantastic packaging which appeals to me on so many levels, I am into fashion sketching but I also love how chic they look in my bathroom...

Not only do these Percy & Reed products look awesome but they are fantastic too! If you are a gal that likes voluminous, hydrated yet textured hair with character you will love(!) these too... The Superstar Supersized Bodifying Cream has elderflower extract to help creating gorgeously glossy and shiny finish as well as lifting your hair... A small amount applied on towel dried hair creates that extra bodifying oomph...

Smoothed, Sealed & Sensational Volumising No Oil Oil for fine hair has violet extract to make your hair shiny but voluminous at the same time... It also has pro vitamin B5 making your hair stronger and wheat proteins protect from heat.. It's an oil that is a non oil, hard to grasp I know, but it does what an oil would do yet without that greasy business... It is advised to also use it on towel dried hair, however I tried it a few times after blow drying and on day two hair just to add a little bit of shine and volume, and it works just as well! Actually after I used it when finished styling my hair rather than before, I saw Ruth from A Model Recommends doing the same thing in one of her vids... So that makes at least two of us...

No-Fuss Fabulous Dry Shampoo doesn't have that classic strong white powder residue that makes you look like you accidentally dusted some talc powder in your roots... Dry shampoos are great for making your hair feel fresh when it's between washes, it absorbs the oil when sprayed in the roots, also creating volume... This one is a subtle version, which doesn't build up on your hair!

And finally, Lovingly Light Foaming Treatment Mask is great to pick up fine, flat and dry hair... This rich conditioning treatment helps to nourish, moisturise and add volume to your tiered and autumn depressed hair... It's a lightweight mousse, which I haven't come across before in the shape of a hair mask... All of these four products are designed to be beautifully lightweight to prevent weighting your hair down, which is exactly what you need during Fall with all that wind and rain coming down at you... Thumbs up for each of the products! Nuff said...
