Today's Beauty Look, Gone French with Ruby Woo!

Somewhere between having Mr Barney snoring on my lap and getting distracted by some major bling sitting on my desk I managed to upload these pics... It's the look I wore today, and although there are a few scars left on my face after the terrible chickenpox out-brake I figured I can continue with my beauty looks as it's not too bad now... I will do a separate post on skincare in the next couple of days to share what I used and still am using to help the scarring go away faster, which would be the same skincare routine I use for acne scars...

I got this cosy thick stripy jumper at Zara yesterday when returning the black velvet skort that I just couldn't get to work on me... Zara is on sale now, so they have great reductions and the jumpers are just fab... I love the baggy cuts... Anyways where I am going with this is that a jumper like this is begging for a red lip, a very French look, classic and cute...

I have enjoyed MAC Ruby Woo lately, a classic matte red lipstick that seems to be flattering on most complexions, that's the thing about MAC, either they have the most unique colours you wouldn't  find anywhere else which are great for editorials or shades that are timeless and amazing on anyone... Speaking of which, I dropped by at MAC counter to check out the latest collection, didn't really like anything... But as it quite often happens, I really loved a blush that the MAC girl was wearing, she had quite tanned olive skin  and her make-up was beautiful... Mostly the girls at MAC are so overdone that the make-up starts to feel rather theatrical and even scary at times when not well executed!

But this girl looked beautiful and the peachy blush she was wearing made her look really radiant and pretty! It ended up being Peaches, she said it's also a colour that seems to work on all complexions... And she was right! I am at my palest now and it still looks awesome, especially with a red lip... I can see this blush looking great throughout the year! Let me know in the commentbox below what your favourite MAC blushes are...

On the eyes I used MAC Paints in Sublime Nature as a base with a touch of MAC Soba eyeshadow, which is a very similar shade to Sublime Nature, a natural warm toned soft brown with a light shimmer... Then I used my beloved Chanel Professional Eyeliner Duo [the matte side] in Noir-Lame... To accentuate my eyes a little I applied Ardell Individual Lashes, just on the ends, about six each side... I started using the Eylure eyelash application tweezers when applying individual lashes, not sure what exactly they are called as I had them for years, but the elongated shape makes it more convenient when it comes to precision... Normal tweezers will do the job just as fine, it's just that I had these hanging around for years so might as well give them some use... And it takes a while to get used to these as you need to press on them to open up, but as you pick up the lash it stays there until you release it into place... Cute lash tool tho...

Stila Set & Bronze Baked Powder Trio...

on the eyes: I'm wearing the beautiful MAC Sumptuous Olive eyeshadow
- it's a beautiful metallic olive green...
[and a new addition to my beloved MAC eyeshadow collection]

on the face: I'm wearing the new Stila Set & Bronze Powder Trio,
which beautifully warms and illuminated the face...

I got this beautiful light Zara flower print blouse this spring for
the Damien Hirst exhibit at the Tate...
When I read there would be the butterfly room I decided to dress for the occasion...
 In and Out of Love...
And of course the huge beautiful butterflies were attracted to my yellow flowers,
it was a very special and beautiful moment,
because love is like a butterfly -
you never know where it will settle down next...

I was quite excited to try this new Stila bronzer... It has three shades: Matte Bronze, which bronzes and warms the skin; Kitten Shimmer, which brightens and illuminates; and Bronze Shimmer, which enhances skintone... When you turn the 'ingenious shaver' that is build in the compact it sort of shaves the baked powder and the three colours mixed together become a beautiful luminous bronzy champagne powder... It has a beautiful satin-like finish... I love how it illuminates the face, I wouldn't recommend to dust it all over the face if you have oily skin like moi, as it's quite shimmery and you may end up glowing like a light-bulb, but as a highlighter it really looks beautiful!

Clarins Enchanted...

lips: my beloved Clarins Rouge Prodige in Nude

I went with the colours of the palette and the kohl and pulled out the most colourful shirt I have, it's Zara, and I love that kind of Versace over-the-top style of it...

Clarins Enchanted Summer 2012 Collection was inspired by Indian summer... The Enchanted Colour Quartet & Liner Palette in Collector Edition [it's the only colour] has these decadent gold, and shimmery chocolate, with the vibrant violet eyeshadows... It has four eyeshadows, and a chocolaty shimmer creamy eyeliner... I loved the beautiful engraved Indian inspired patterns into the eyeshadows and the eyeliner, almost made you not want to ruin it... It is a rare occasion when you can use all of the colours in the palette at once and not end up looking crazy... I have used every single colour and I love it! The glitter and sparkles look stunning, they are fine and blend into beautiful alltogetherness...

The Kohl Kajal I used is in Violet, also from the Enchanted collection... The Kohl Kajal is based on the traditional kohl worn by Indian women... And I think I made a mistake of putting it on my waterline... It made my contact lenses go blurry and irritated my eyes, I am not sure if it's actually meant for the waterline or whether it was just my reaction... But the colour is really beautiful and next time I will stay away from the waterline and apply it under the lower lashes, and then I would set it with the beautifully vibrant violet colour from the palette... That's the other thing, it says the kohl is long lasting, but on me it didn't hold well... So I'm not sure about the kohl yet, but I absolutely love the Enchanted palette, stunning!

What Did Meme Do Next...

Meme wore:
Zara Denim Skort [skirt & shorts in one]
Topshop Beaded Cross Necklaces
Chanel Ceramic Watch

Loving this whole grunge bohemian thing right now...
The very chunky ring with oval black stone: Claire's
[it's coming out in the first week of August]
...for make-up look I went with Vamp Chic - see previous blog post...

bad ass shoe... Heaton ankle grip platforms by KG

This beautiful dish is from Zara Home, I found it at their dishes section...
So I believe you can serve food in it...
I serve rings...

Here is the star of the programme... The reason I went to Zara Home... The soap dish!
It's a beautiful shell, rimmed with silver metal and it's got little teal stones on both ends...
I finally have a beautiful way to display my Lush soaps,
which I need to get more of as I am clearly running out...

No, Zara Home does not sell cats, yet!
This velvet orange cushion found a new home, I needed a bright spot on my bed,
as I have predominantly white sheets, and it's a beautiful burned orange...

Mr Barney got a new toy too,
although he is the nine year old senior fluff ball, he's still a baby at heart...
My baby boy is loving his new rattle teddy...

...this white ceramic jar, which has a woven texture, was in their bath section,
could be used for toothbrushes or anything really... I decided my dry rose bouquet will move to this jar for now... I love the shape of it as well, it starts off as a square at the bottom and then becomes round at the top...

Skincare: Chanel Ultra Correction Lift Serum, not only does it lift but it looks great too,
I love displaying it on my little round mood table...
Fragrance: This summer I have been Enjoying the L'Eau de Chloe...

...this was sold as a drinking glass, it's plastic and got that 3D illusion effect...
I loved the adorable funny-face pup, and decided it would hold my painting brushes...

This antique looking candlelight holder I got last week, also at Zara Home, naturally...

...beautifully decorated Jamie Isaia and Anthony Malat's home in Brooklyn NY...

Meme went to Zara Home again, which she shouldn't have done! Oops too late... I literally shouldn't be allowed to enter this fabulous space... Yesterday I just took a brief walk in Hampstead, having dragged myself out of bed in the late hour as I had to have my beauty sleep after staying up very late the night before, I decided it was time to drop by and get that soap dish I have been eyeing for a while... Uhu... It didn't end there... They still have the sale going on, and some pieces have been marked down even further... I just love doing that kind of thing on a weekend, browsing home décor stuff... When it comes to home décor, my biggest icons are Jamie Isaia and Anthony Malat, the photographer and fashion designer's decadent home in Brooklyn NY is so inspiring to me...The way one decorates their can reveal a lot about the person... Their character, creativity, spirituality shines through the pieces they choose to live with... I love that vintage bohemian style, to me it represents comfort, softness, beauty, chicness...

[All the home décor pieces I have featured including the toy are from Zara Home]

Vince Camuto Simona Wedges...

Toes: Essie Mojito Madness

Beaded cross necklaces: Topshop

I am quite enjoying these Russell & Bromley by Vince Camuto Simona wedges... I loved the studs on the heels, makes a strong statement... The front shape reminds of 50s and it's really flattering... The mix of the modern and the retro makes it a nice combo... These wedges look cute with a long/short skirt, pants, dresses, or even shorts... Here I'm wearing Zara orange shorts with a navy tank top and couple of beaded cross necklaces... This outfit is really casual and perfect for the hot summer days we had... And I also like that the wedges are tan, you can throw a tan shoe into any outfit, colour-wise it would go equally well with bright splashes or for the colder autumn days with pale or black they would look awesome too!

Skulls & Studs, Studs & Skulls...

Aren't they precious the little skulls? When I first time saw this small purse at Zara they only had it in black and although I loved it I thought the price tag attached was a little too overpriced for Zara, and besides I had just purchased a small over the shoulder bag so I really didn't need another one especially at that price... But couple of weeks ago I walked in to Zara and found this white one, half price! Without sounding like a jew, it made a huge difference on my purse-perspective! And surprise-surprice ever since I got it I have quite abused my little gold skulls... The purse looks pretty worn now, but I love it, it ads on texture and extra roughness... When it gets hot like it did for the past week I ditch my large-ish handbags and go for something as minimal as this... I can only fit in my house keys, car keys, mirror compact, lipstick, card-holder and that's about it! Summery days are the perfect time to give your shoulder a break before we go into those crazy, massively oversized handbags in autumn...

Neon Necklace & Display Ideas...

If you are a rose-gold fan who is enjoying the neon trends this summer I think you may enjoy this necklace just as well as I am doing right now... It's a metal necklace that has different textures and the two layers make it more interesting... I picked it up at Zara over a week ago, so they may still have them... The necklace is predominantly rose-gold but goes from grey metal to the neon coloured pieces... I love wearing it with a blouse, or a tank top, keeping the rest of the outfit pretty plain...

Now, I have a whole draw which is dedicated to jewellery, and I also keep it in one of my wardrobes in a couple of those Ikea material fold-up draw dividers... BUT, I do like to display some of my statement necklaces that I am wearing that particular season -  on frames... The other thing is my frames are mostly not hanging of the wall, they are leaning against the wall, on shelves, vanity table, anywhere I can lean them basically... And so I hang the necklaces that I am currently wearing on the corners of the frames... I also have a free-standing mood-board that I use for my necklace display... It's kind of helpful to see your beloved pieces when you are getting dressed...
