The New Chanel No 5 Eau Premiere Eau de Parfum Review...

This was a lovely surprise! I had no idea that Chanel came out with a new more youthful version of the classic No 5... So when I was given this tiny bottle as a gift it made me smile, I love anything Chanel! First of all the bottle is incredibly simple given it's Chanel, the design of it almost makes you feel it's a sample bottle [40 ml], having said that it's convenient as a purse spray... Although the clear colour of the perfume differs a lot from the original golden yellow, it still somehow managed to capture the base notes of the original... It's very interesting, although it smells very similar to the original it doesn't have the heaviness and smokiness of it, and instead there is an element of freshness to it... I love the way it smells on my skin, there is a definite classic No 5 feel to it, but younger not mature...

I honestly don't think of "old-ladies" when I smell the original Chanel No 5, but most men I have been with couldn't stand the scent for that reason... So now I just wear it for myself, I think it depends on how you wear it as well, under a thick jumper on a cold winter's night it can develop into a gorgeous scent on warm skin... Just avoid wearing it around men if you don't want to trigger their association with old-ladies... So the new version is great if you love the original No 5 and want to wear it around men too...

But the thing is it doesn't seem to last on me, I always spray fragrance after shower before I get dressed and then topping it off on my neck, hair and wrists when I'm about to leave... Although the new version is an Eau de Parfum it feels more like an Eau de Toilette, minutes later when I'm outside I can't smell much of the new No 5, even on my wrists it evaporates into almost nothing... It's a lovely elegant and sexy fragrance when freshly sprayed, but I wish it would last on me as well as the original No 5 does...

  1. Oh that's a shame, I love to be able to smell my perfume hours later.
The best i've ever had is Chloe by Chloe, the lasting power is incredible, I can spray my scarf and when I put it on a week later I can still smell the perfume :)
I love Chanel No.5 too, there's nothing old lady about it to me either :) xxx

  2. I love smelling fragrances on my clothes and scarves too! I generally go for very strong and long lasting fragrances... It took me a while to start enjoying Chloe again, it's on a subtle side for me but it does last beautifully... Try spraying the new Chanel No 5 and see how it lasts on you.. xxx
